Anita originates from rural Wisconsin. Singing from an early age, she taught herself to play guitar at age 12, began songwriting, and performed in local talent showcases, fairs, and other music events throughout her teen years. She and her sister later formed the acoustic folk/rock duo Thurston Hill, showcasing their original music, recording two CD’s, and opening for several regional and national artists.
Her other previous music projects include Red Pepper (a Minneapolis-based blues/jazz quartet), and local rock bands Group Therapy, Limited Access, and Troublemaker. Secondary instruments include mandolin, harmonica, and percussion. A member of the Minnesota Association of Songwriters, she also continues to perform occasionally as a solo artist.
